2nd RT On October 23, 2015, in accordance with the implementation of the UNIDO/GEF UKR IEE Project tasks iC consulenten organized the round table discussion “Introduction of the Energy Management systems in Ukraine: procedure for companies’ selection, financial mechanism and experience of local industries”. It was the second event under the Consultant’s assignment in the framework of UNIDO/GEF UKR IEE Technical Assistance Project on “Introduction of the Energy Management System Standards in Ukrainian Industry”, financed by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF).

The developed transparent Screening Procedure and the Project’s Financial Mechanism were presented to the participants at the event. The delivered outputs were developed by iC consulenten, as the Consultant to this Project component, in coordination with the Project’s management and experts. Since the 1^st Round-table in September, the Consultant also performed companies’ screening in accordance with the approved procedure. The effective consultation with stakeholders regarding the screening procedure and financial mechanism was a required and important part for delivering the developed outputs under the UNIDO/GEF Project.

A valuable presentation was provided by PJSC “Energomashspetsstal” – the largest Ukrainian manufacturer of special cast and forged products for metallurgy, shipbuilding, power industry (wind-, steam-, hydro-, nuclear energy) and general machinery. The Energy Manager of the company shared his experience of implementing Energy Management, told about lessons learned, methods for motivating employees to generate energy saving, presented implemented measures in their production facilities and significant achievements of cost and energy savings, resulting in millions UAH and kWh.

The participants, representing Project beneficiaries (Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, SAEE), State institutions, International and local financial institutions, and industries, were engaged in active discussion supporting further procedure on the final selection of initial pilot projects and establishment of the Financial Mechanism of the Project.
