On March 25, 2025, the Award Ceremony of the winners of the All-Ukrainian Award: Pacesetters for Energy Management took place. The event was organized and conducted by European-Ukrainian Energy Agency (EUEA) with the support of the UNIDO UKR IEE project “Introduction of Energy Management System Standard in Ukrainian Industry” and in partnership with the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE).

This award symbolizes high recognition and distinction of enterprises in the field of energy management, energy efficiency and progressive low-carbon development of industry in Ukraine.

Representatives of the UNIDO UKR IEE project “Introduction of Energy Management System Standard in Ukrainian Industry” participated in the event.

The award program in Ukraine is implemented following the example of the international Energy Management Leadership Awards by Clean Energy Ministerial.

“Ukrainian enterprises should already invest in the modernization of production facilities, implement energy management systems and reduce their carbon footprint. The leaders of this process are exactly the companies and professionals we are recognizing today. Their work is not only a contribution to the development of the economy, but also a guarantee of an environmentally friendly, competitive future of Ukraine,” emphasized Hanna Zamazeyeva, Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency, during the award ceremony for the winners of the All-Ukrainian Award: Pacesetters for Energy Management.

Such initiatives provide an opportunity to explore real cases of successful implementation of energy-efficient solutions in various sectors of the economy. Eleven Ukrainian enterprises took part in the award: 2 large and 9 small and medium-sized. The most outstanding and energy-efficient received awards and vouchers worth 10 thousand and 5 thousand USD.

Leading Ukrainian enterprises were recognized for their achievements in implementing an energy management system.

Winners of the All-Ukrainian Award: Pacesetters for Energy Management

In the “Excellence Award” category among SMEs, three companies shared the victory and received grants of $5,000 each:

1. “Trivium Packaging” received an award and a grant of $5,000.

Since 2022, the company has decided to implement an energy management system. Energy efficiency goals set within EnMS were achieved through projects focused on waste heat recovery, including:

  • Utilizing waste heat from air compressors for water heating;
  • Using excess heat from another compressor to heat production facilities;
  • Construction and commissioning of a rooftop solar power station;
  • Replacement of production and office lighting systems with LED lamps;
  • Upgrading the welding machine to a more energy-efficient model.

The implementation of these measures resulted in energy savings of 3,500 MWh, equivalent to 5 million UAH.

2. “Kyivguma”

The company faced energy instability challenges, particularly due to blackouts, which prompted the installation of a 671 kW solar power station. Additional initiatives included:

  • Insulating steam fittings with thermal covers;
  • Reconstructing steam pipeline insulation;
  • Automating drying equipment for dielectric gloves;
  • Eliminating structural leaks in the finger cot production unit.

These measures led to energy savings of 1,713 MWh, equivalent to 9.8 million UAH.

3. “Kyiv Pasta Factory”

Following an energy audit in 2022, the company implemented:

  • Reconstruction of the heating and hot water supply system;
  • Installation of an exhaust air heat recovery unit;
  • Thermal modernization of buildings;
  • Optimization of the compressed air system;
  • Burner replacement in the gas boiler;
  • Modernization of the lighting system.

These initiatives resulted in energy savings of 436 MWh, equivalent to 1.1 million UAH.
