The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will transfer USD 1.5 million to the JSC “Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine”, where the funds will support projects aimed at improving industrial energy efficiency and modernising Ukrainian enterprises.

The corresponding Letter of Intent was signed by Anna Zamazeeva, Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE), and Yuko Yasunaga, Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director of the Directorate of Corporate Services and Operations of UNIDO.

The funds, established under the financial mechanism of the UNIDO/GEF UKR IEE Project “Introduction of Energy Management System Standard in Ukrainian Industry” through the Loan Guarantee Fund for Industrial Energy Efficiency, will, upon completion of the project, be managed through the JSC “Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine”. This will create additional opportunities for Ukrainian enterprises to access financing for the implementation of energy-efficient technologies, industrial modernisation, and the reduction of energy consumption.

“For us, this is much more than the transfer of financial resources. It reflects the confidence of our international partners in the instruments of the JSC ‘Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine’ and confirms that it is becoming one of the key mechanisms supporting the modernisation of Ukrainian industry,” said Anna Zamazeeva, Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine.

The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine serves as the National Beneficiary of the UNIDO/GEF UKR IEE Project, which supported the operation of the Loan Guarantee Fund for Industrial Energy Efficiency and, following the project’s completion, the implementation of the project’s Sustainability Strategy.

Accordingly, the resources of this financial instrument will continue to operate through the JSC “Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine”, helping Ukrainian enterprises secure financing for the deployment of energy-efficient technologies, industrial modernisation, and reduced energy consumption.

“There is still much work ahead of us together. Today, we have taken another important step towards a more energy-efficient and competitive Ukrainian industry,” Anna Zamazeeva emphasised.
