This year, the International Sustainability Forum 2023 will be held on September 20 in Kyiv and September 21 in The Hague. The forum is organized by the Association of Sustainable Development Experts (ASDE). The forum will result in the development of the Green Strategy of Ukraine. This is a country’s development strategy based on the principles of sustainability, taking into account the requirements of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, international partnership, and current challenges. This is a set of initiatives, a clear roadmap, and a practical plan that will be created at the International Sustainability Forum 2023 and submitted to the government. The Green Strategy of Ukraine should become a priority and a philosophy for the whole of Ukraine.
Moderated by Yana Konyok, Executive Director of the Association of Sustainable Development Experts (ASDE), the presentation provided detailed information on each panel of the International Sustainability Forum, which will take place on September 20 in Kyiv and September 21 in The Hague.
Alina Sokolenko, Head of ASDE and member of the Advisory Board, spoke in more detail about the goals and objectives of the International Sustainability Forum 2023, and also substantiated the opinion on the relevance of green recovery for Ukraine.
Maria Mezentseva, Head of the Permanent Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, spoke about the importance of developing a Green Strategy for the next 20 years as a result of the practical implementation of the forum.
Denis Shemyakin, Director of the Reform Support Team, Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, shared his opinion on the need to introduce non-financial requirements for businesses and investors, and justified how important these requirements are in the current environment.
Roman Shakhmatenko, Energy and Environment Portfolio Manager, UNDP Ukraine, spoke about the importance of adhering to the principles of sustainable development in Ukraine.
Serhiy Porovskyy, Principal Expert on Energy Efficiency Financing and Policy at UNIDO, Special Advisor to the Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, shared his experience of participating in previous ASDE forums and his expectations for the International Sustainability Forum 2023.
Iryna Papusha, PhD, Member of the ASDE Advisory Board, Corporate Director, Founder of Women Leaders for Ukraine, spoke about the role of quality political dialogue in Ukraine’s green recovery.
Yevgeniya Afanasenko, ASDE member, an international expert on sustainable development, Principal Environmental Adviser at the EBRD, spoke about the specifics of moderating the panel on decarbonization and transition to a green economy and summarized the main goals and prospects of the forum.
