Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE), Hanna Zamazeyeva, held a meeting with UNIDO representatives, with whom she discussed a joint project to support businesses in the implementation of energy efficiency measures and energy management systems.
“We are ready to help enterprises obtain loans for the introduction of energy management and energy-efficient measures. The amount for one enterprise will be up to $150,000. Micro-grants for small and medium-sized businesses will also be provided as part of the project,” said the Head. “Energy management and energy efficiency measures are still a relatively new concept for Ukrainian business. But we want it to be implemented by as many Ukrainian enterprises as possible – both large and small and medium-sized. Because this is about reducing the cost of production, increasing business profitability, and creating new jobs. And, of course, about the energy security of the country as a whole,” Hanna Zamazeyeva emphasized.
Serhii Porovskyi, the chief expert on financing and energy efficiency policy, UNIDO, emphasized that supporting enterprises: energy efficiency measures, decarbonization, distributed generation (integrated solutions: RES, EE, accumulation), covering financial risks and building technical potential is about supporting our economy, energy independence and energy security.
“It is for these purposes that the Loan Guarantee Fund was created – a financial mechanism based on guarantees, launched by the UN agency in cooperation with a selected financial partner in Ukraine. The fund was launched by UNIDO together with JSC “UKRGAZBANK” specifically to facilitate the obtaining of loans by enterprises for the implementation of energy efficiency measures. Within the Fund’s volume of $1.5 million, the Project fully guarantees loans of up to $150,000 per legal entity for the implementation of energy efficiency measures,” said Mr. Porovsky. More detailed information about the conditions of work of the Credit Guarantee Fund can be viewed on the website of JSC “UKRGAZBANK” by following the link.
The participants of the meeting discussed the prospects for further cooperation and potential tools to support the implementation of energy management systems and energy-efficient projects in industry and communities.
