On October 24, the international community celebrated United Nations Day.

74 years ago, on October 24, 1945 the Charter of the United Nations came into force. It opens with the words, “We the peoples of the United Nations determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and  to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations…”

24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948, to draw attention to the organization’s activities and pressing issues on the UN agenda.

A solemn celebration took place in Kiev, involving a wide range of individuals.

“Be the Change” photo exhibition dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals opened in the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the participation of 18 Ukrainian celebrities.

The event was hosted by Michael Shchur. Special guests of the celebration, Ukrainian celebrities, spoke about the selected Goals and why it is so important to act right now in order to achieve them.

A knowledge contest about the Global Goals was held among the audience with gifts awarded to the winners.
